How To Treat Gout Inspite Of Taking Xarelto For AFIB?

Three years ago, I had a minor gout experience, and I was taking INDOMETHACIN 25mg 3 times a day, and in a very short time, my problem went away. Now, I have been put on XARELTO 20mg once a day for AFIB. So, now after a few weeks on the AFIB drug, my gout is back. I will not take anything over the counter being I’m on XARELTO. So, my question is; would it be OK to try something, or should I see my Doctor. Thanks,Richard Perbix

Hi,

Colchicine can be taken instead of NSAIDs. If you take NSAIDs (Indomethacin) along with Xarelto there is increased chance of bleeding from areas like stomach. So better to avoid it. I would recommend colchicine in such case. Better to approach your doctor before taking any medicine as you are on treatment for AFIB.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
