Hi,

Gynecomastia is enlargement of the male breast tissue. In general, gynecomastia is as a result of hormonal imbalance in the body. It occurs when male hormones (androgens) are relatively low compared to the level of female hormones (estrogens) in the body. Various treatment modalities are available, which include:
1. If medications are the cause of gynecomastia, stopping the offending drug can be effective in reducing gynecomastia.
2. Evaluation and treatment of any underlying medical conditions which can be associated with gynecomastia are also important.
3. Medical management of gynecomastia includes Testosterone replacement or use of selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) namely tamoxifen and raloxifene.
4. When medical treatment is not effective, surgical removal of breast tissue by procedures like liposuction and direct excision techniques can be used to treat gynecomastia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S,
