How To Treat Head Heat And Diarrhea During Teething?

hi Doctor,My baby girl is six months old. She is going through teething. We have been giving her banana on daily basis. But for last two days we have not fed her with banana. Now she has been suffering from watery feces and head is very hot. I am giving her dioctahedral Smectite-3g with water. Please advise any other medicine if required.thanks

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

It is commonly found that children undergoing teething suffers diarrhoea that is frequent watery stools and low grade fever..

It happens as during teething process the infants feels soreness and discomfort in their gums and they have the urge to take their fingers in mouth to rub against their gums and at times due to this the infants gets infection in their mouth travelling to their stomach leading to diarrhoea and the same reason is responsible for fever..

Dioctahedral Smectite-3g has been found to markedly reduce the frequency of loose stools in infants but if the condition does not improve i would suggest to see a Paediatrician and get her medicated as diarrhoea should not be taken lightly in infants..
