How To Treat Hematoma And Bruise On Left Leg Inspite Of Using Tylenol?
About 6 days ago I fell hard on a big rock - it was my left leg and I hit my shine very hard against it. When I got back home I put ice on it for a few hours & then applied Arnica & went to sleep. It was sore & had a big hematoma & bruise so I applied more Arnica & didn t thinking more about it. Yesterday I had a 12 hour drive to get back home & it has been hurting significantly off & on all day today. Especially if I sit for awhile it starts aching & surface skin itchy up & down my lower leg. My concern is that I ve had 2 DVT s in the same leg & was on warfarin for 7 years but have had the all clear since 2011. I ve put 2 herbal pain patches on the sore spot & taken 2 Tylinol & need to get some sleep. What would you advise me to do about it tomorrow? Thank you. Suzanne Princiotta

It may take 5-7 days for the pain and swelling to subside. The discolouration will take still longer.
Take tylenol 3 times a day for 3-5 days, minimise movement, and keep the limb elevated. Kindly see your doctor if symptoms are not getting down by then, develops fever or the area becomes warm/red. These suggests secondary infection needing antibiotics.
This is unlikely a DVT, but it's better to avoid such long drives or take break in between and move around for sometime.
