i am 56 years old male having diabetes since last six years. First 2 years i was diet control with good results,but since last 4 yrs iwas on metmorphin 500 mg morning and evening now since last 1month on 1gm morning and evening.my glucose level fasting is 140 ,pp 240,and before dinner is 120=130.now even with exercise ,diet control and 1gm. metmorphin it is not coming down. i am concerned about my PPglucose,please guide......some doctor have suggested combination of volglibose .2mg and metmorphin 500mg(tab. volix-m 0.2 mg) which i have not started, should i start if so tell me side effects and contra indications.
Dear sir I understand your concern. There is nothing to get alarmed because this is a natural happening in the course of diabetes progression. your after food blood sugars are slightly more. Tab voglibose is a good drug but this is having side effect of excessive bloating and abdominal discomfort.Mainly this drug works by decreasing glucose absorption in your intestine i suggest you to discuss with your doc regarding new therapies like DPP4 inhibitors which are far better than voglibose in addressing the pathology of diabetes.
