Hi, i'm a 26 year old male and have had a hydrocele on my right testicle since i was about 15. I have been considering the operation for a long time, mostly because of the discomfort when trying to sleep and the pain caused during intercourse from the repeated motion. The hydrocele is not that large. Probably similar to a golf ball. I was wondering if, after the hydrocelectomy, would the surrounding skin of the scrotum go back to an appropriate size for the testicles within, and also would my cremaster reflex be like normal, as at the moment my scrotum does not contract for intercourse, even though it does in other situations. Thank you
welcome to Health care magic. 1.The treatment of choice for the above conditions are operation. 2.I generally recommend if its grossly enlarged, small ones only if they cause discomfort. 3.As in case of small hydrocele what i noticed was , not very much difference after the procedure ( the size), because of post operative changes or scar tissue. 4.Yes after operation it goes to normal size ( not completely). 5.Get an ultrasound examination done, which is investigation of choice - then plan accordingly. hope it helps you. Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
