How To Treat Infection In Chest?

i had chest pain on left side. X ray was showing some infection. I took antibiotics with consultation of family doctor. Now I am ok with pain. But xray is not very clean, however there is an improvement. Is it required to do any more treatments?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of pneumonia (lung infection) is more likely.
In pneumonia, symptoms appear first then appears infiltration on chest x ray.
Similarly when we start antibiotics, symptoms disappear first then x ray infiltrates.
Since your symptoms are gone, no need to worry for x ray infiltrates.
It will take time (2-3) weeks for complete resolution of infiltrates.
So get done repeat chest x ray after 3 weeks.
It will mostly become normal.
If infiltrates are seen even after 3 weeks then get done CT thorax.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
