How To Treat Irritation, Itching And Burning Sensation Inside And Outside The Ear?

sir, My mother aging around 55 is suffering from severe irritation, itching, heaviness with a burning sensation in the ear and also outside the ear. (as prescribed by ent dr. she used otiden for only two days for pain in the ear and from then she is suffering with the above.). Request you to kindly let us know the next course of action

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have irritation, itching and burning sensation inside and outside the ear could be due to Eustachian tube dysfunction, upper respiratory track infection , sinusitis or post nasal drip . I would suggest you to take steam twice a day to relieve the congestion. You should do warm saline gargles. Apply dry hot compresses to external ear. You should consult ENT specialist to rule out causer like ear infection, meniere disease or wax buildup . Doctor may prescribe mucolytic agent , decongestant and antibiotics . In some cases doctor may also give tubes to relieve the pressure which is common procedure .
