How To Treat Itchiness And Burning Sensation On Lips?

I just did, but again: have itch and burn above lips and below nose. No external signs of chapping, but feels that way. I use cerave face moisturizer with SPF, for months, and I don t use it in this area. I have stopped washing my face because I think it may be making it worse although I haven t necessarily noticed worsening symptoms after using water. I ve been using aquaphor to try to reduce the itch, but it hasn t helped.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. It seems like you are suffering from an allergic reaction causing burning and itching sensation.

You should start taking Levocetrizine 5 mg (Levocet) or Loratidine 10 mg (Lorfast) once a day for 5 days. This will give relief in allergic reaction. If it happens every now and then, then it is important to identify the allergen. You can go for the blood test for allergy to determine what substance you are allergic to.

If you do not find relief in the burning and itching in 2 days, you should visit a dentist or dermatologist for examination of the area and further investigations if needed.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
