Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi my 7 year old is complaining of a itchy tongue. She also says it hurts. This started yesterday when she said her tongue was itching and she scratched it with her teeth to relieve the itch. However, it started to hurt and itch thereafter. I don't see any abrasions or rash on her tongue. But, I did notice a raised bump, but it's not located where she says the irritation is. Please advise. Thanks.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain and presentation of symptoms it seems that your daughter is suffering from some allergies commonly to some food leading to itching ad pain in tongue. The bump you noticed can also be due to allergic reaction..
I would suggest you to consult an Allergist or allergic medicine specialist and get her evaluated so that the exact cause can be ruled out by getting a blood investigation done.. If allergic reaction is not ruled out other causes can be Herpatic stomatitis, canker sores etc. As of now give her benadryl and make her do gargles with a 1:1 solution of milk of magnesia and benadryl.
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
