Hi. Thanks for consulting us. You don't say your age, or if your periods have always been like this, or if it's a recent change, but there is nothing abnormal about what you describe. I will start answering as if this is how you usually experience your cycle. Periods can vary a great deal. Heavier blood loss can be associated with clots and clumping, uterine (womb)
muscle cramps, sometimes severe, to pass the clumps. Clumps or clots can be anywhere from dime to dollar sized. The cramping can be felt in many places that share nervous system with the womb such as low back, thighs, hips, belly button and lower abdomen. It's unrelated to
acid reflux though some common over the counter treatments like
ibuprofen or
aspirin can make your acid reflux worsen.
Many teens, years before beginning sexual activity use
contraceptive pills to lighten, regulate, and decrease the pain of menses. Other non prescriptive and prescriptive remedies are available, esp if your reflux is well controlled.
If this a new occurrence after years of normal cycles, then it is also a time to see your gynecologist and be checked for changes such as fibroids or infection.
Please don't continue to be frightened and uncomfortable. There is nothing abnormal, but your symptoms can be treated.A visit to the doctor should help you find a solution without causing worse reflux.
