Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What is the best way to treat leaky leg valves. I read that cocanut oil is good and that pressure hose are also good. I am 79 years old and am in what I consider good health. I exercise each day plus walk at least 2 to 4 miles. I am not on any prescription drugs but I do take a number of vitamins.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
HI, I am happy that you are keeplng good health at age of 79. The leaky leg valves are bothering you,I understand your concern. The valves in legs are one wa valves to reach impure blood to heart . when they get weak, blood collects in leg veins to make them tortuous & twisted. These are symptomless in the beginning. but afterwords they cause burning, pain ,tiredness, itching on the veins, swelling on legs. *Preventive management like using compression stockings, elevating legs, avoiding prolonged standing/sitting& doing plenty exercises which you are already doing. * To avoid further aggrevation of symptoms ( ulcer/deep vein thrombosis) consultation of a vascular surgeon for active management is indicated. Thanks
