How To Treat Left-sided Back And Shoulder Pain After An Injury?

Last night, I slipped down the stairs and landed on my back then hit my head. The wind was knocked out of me and I couldn t see for a minute or two. I am in a great deal of pain especially around my left shoulder blade. Also, have substantial pain around right shoulder blade, but not as severe as left side. The pain increases if I inhale fully, raise my arms up for too long, or cough. This morning I now have significant pain in my left lower back. My head is very sore and I am very sleepy.

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
Hello,

With history, it appears to be a bony impact and an x-ray is advised for the same. The cervical and lumbar spine x-ray along with chest.

The injury in the lumbar and cervical needs assessment for any signs of fracture. So does the chest for the ribs. For now, take rest and use hot water fermentation.

It sounds as more of bony hurt or may be a hairline fracture. With hot water fermentation and rest, you should be fine. Post the pain vanishes do simple exercises to regain full muscle strength.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
