How To Treat Lichen Planus?

My 14-year old daughter, who is adopted, has been diagnosed with lichen planus. The more I read about it the more all of her symptoms over the years make sense. She has always had very sensitive skin, sometimes itchy patches, but never the full blow bumps and rash I see on line. Her toenails began to be affected approximately 3 years ago and she has now lost all but one. Her toes are getting cracked and are beginning to have open sores. I ve read about topical solutions on line, but am concerned about the cortisone treatments as they can thin the skin. I ve read some about capsaicin, but don t know the side effects. We have a humidifier on our home furnace. I am wondering how to find a Dr. near Milwaukee WI who has successfully treated this disease.
