How To Treat Lower Stomach Cramps And Blood Clots After Surgical Termination?

Hi, I had a surgical termination a week ago, I didn't really bleed much for the first 4 days but the past 3 days I have been having blood clots, and have felt them coming out at times in to my pad, I was told I do not need a follow up appointment that everything was a success at the time. Is it normal for me to be having lower tummy cramps and blood clots ??

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. The origin of the blood clots could be the blood collected inside the uterine cavity during and after the procedure. Cramps are due to the uterine contraction as the uterus tries to expel the blood and also as it tries to involute. I would suggest a follow up evaluation even if the process is termed to be completely successful. This follow up should include a trans-vaginal sonogram. Please maintain proper genital hygiene. Do not use tampons, use sanitary napkins instead. You can take antispasmodics to relieve pain from cramps. Hope this helps.
