How To Treat Menstrual Irregularity?

Hi doctor. My period (menstruation) was delayed for 11 days. I've tested twice and shows negative result (not pregnant).
I've went to see pharmacist and she introduce me a medicine named norethisterone (5mg), to take three times a day for three days, my period will comes then.
May I know is this medicine works?

Hi,

No. I don't think that this medicine (norethisterone) can be helpful. Instead, I would suggest you to start a course of medroxyprogesterone tablet for 5 days and wait for 2 weeks for periods to occur. Once your periods occur start a course of oral contraceptive pills like krimson 35 for 3 months. Do a thyroid profile test and a prolactin test. Also, I would suggest an ultrasound examination of lower abdomen to rule out PCOS.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
