Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How To Treat Open Wounds On Forearm Inspite Of Using Neosporin?
I have thin skin on my forearms and I tore back an area of skin about 20mm x 50-60mm. I was able to unfold and replace a majority of the skin, but there are a couple of strips about 3mm x 15-20 mm that just don t have any skin to replace, and these areas are open wounds. It is clean and bandaged, with Neosporin applied. Is there anything else I should do, other than watch for signs of infection over the next few days, please?
These are small wounds and will heal by itself. You can apply collagen-containing creams instead of Neosporin as it will help with faster recovery and wound approximation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
