How To Treat Pain And Cramping In Leg Muscle?

I have been having extremely painful leg muscle cramps at night. The cramping is so severe that I am practically disabled. I have tried walking the charley-horse out but find it so difficult because the knots increase in intensity. The discomfort makes me cry and cringe until the muscles in my legs can relax and the cramp passes. Please help. What can I do to prevent this/treat it when it happens?

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
Hi,

The solution of this lies in prevention rather than treatment of this. Work on strengthening of the calf muscles, visit a physical therapist, and try supported elevation of the complete leg for half an hour daily. It should improve in few months if followed diligently.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
