Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

So sorry to hear about your problem and will try my best to resolve it..

As per your complain pain at the site of needle insertion along with shooting pain and numbness of the arm seems to be most probably due to piercing of nerve with the needle in an attempt to locate the vein and it is leading to nerve parasthesia and causing the following symptoms..
Needle prick injuries of the nerves generally resolve completely without and residual side effects but can take a long time from a few days to a few weeks to resolve..
Swollen lump can be due to hematoma formation as well as traumatic injury to soft tissues..
I would suggest you to start doing alternate warm and cool compresses over the swelling as well as the entire arm..
Take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Take a Vitamin B complex tablet daily...
Do physiotherapy by finger and arm movements..

In case if it does not improve in 15 days or starts worsening consult a Neurophysician and get evaluated..

Hope this helps..
