How To Treat Pain In Joints, Knee And Elbow While Suffering From Typhoid And Malaria?
was having pain in the joints, knee, ankle, elbow. so I went to the doctor and was asked to do a test for typhoid and malaria and both came out positive. The pain in my joints subsided for a while and 1 week after treatment the pain was back again. At the hospital I was asked to do a second test, this time for malaria only and the parasite was said to be scanty. After medication has been completed, the pain is still there and increasing. Please help!
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of under treatment for malaria and typhoid which were detected on lab tests. With treatment the pains in the joints improved but recurred again. This indicates that you are suffering from polyarthralgia which can be due to enteric arthritis or may be reactivation of the old problem. I would suggest you the following: Send blood for culture and sensitivity. X-rays/MRI of the joints to see the problem. Anti-inflammatory medicine with precaution as you are suffering from Typhoid. You need to continue the medicines as advised by your Doctor, may need additional medicines as per the reports and clinical judgement of your Doctors. You may take tramadol for pain.
