Hello,
Pain in the girdle is a side effect of the laxity in the joints that develops during pregnancy in preparation to labor. This usually subsides mostly after delivery within a couple of months. Failure to do so calls for further help. Your wife needs to see an orthopedic, get physiotherapy and mineral supplements for pain relief. Maintenance of posture, avoidance of weight lifting, adequate rest and good food help in early relief. If necessary, a belt may be prescribed to support the back. Hope you find this information useful. Take care.
