How To Treat Painful Lump On Gum?

Hi, my daughter in law has a white lump/bump on her gum. It is were there was a tooth that was extracted a while ago. It is causing her pain it does not look like an abscess, wonder could this be a cist? What could I do to help her? I was a dental assistant years ago and it doesn't look like something I can remember. She also is currently taking medicine for bi-polar and episodes of scitso frennia, could this be a side effect?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms a white lump on gum in the area from where there was a tooth extracted can be possibly due to any left over root piece or foreign body inclusion in the extraction socket..
These can lead to infection in the area and formation of an abscess that is a pus filled lump..

Nothing to worry, consult an oral physician and get evaluated and along with it get an x ray done to rule out for any abnormality..
If there is any left out root piece or foreign body removal of the same followed by antibiotics and painkillers will help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
