How To Treat Painful Round Lump Behind The Right Ear?
Hello, my name is Chet. I'm a 22 yr old male. I have a pain behind my right ear and upon feeling (thinking it may be a stress headache) I discovered a painful round lump under the skin. I can't see back there, of course, but it doesn't feel like a pimple or anything like that. As I stated, it is small (maybe the size of a grape, maybe a little bigger) hard, and painful (both aches and is sore to the touch). Is this something I should leave work for and seek medical attention right away or can it wait?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain a painful and round lump behind the ear that is tender to touch can be a swollen post auricular lymph node and it can get inflamed and swollen due to infection in the area of head and neck.. You should consult a General Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can be diagnostic and treatment can be planned accordingly.. He can also advise blood tests to rule out for infections.. A course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory painkillers can help in resolution.. As of now you can take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Motrin or Aleve and also do alternate warm and cool compresses over the lymph nodes..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
