Hi,

Thanks for the query.

Since you were not on medications, if you have not used protection, pregnancy cannot be ruled out. The best way to know this is to get a pregnancy test done 7-10 days after the missed period using the first morning urine sample. If it is positive further management will depend upon your wishes to continue it or not.

If it is negative a repeat test after 7 days is advised and if still negative take some progesterone preparation like meprate for three days to induce bleeding.

Since you have been diagnose with PCOS, it is better to get a PCOD hormonal profile done on day 3 of the menstrual cycle to look for hormonal abnormalities. Further treatment will then be directed according to the hormone levels. Since you also desire birth control, certain pills containing cyproterone acetate or drospirenone are recommended if testosterone hormone is raised or if there are problems of excess body hair.

So they serve dual purpose of controlling PCO and also birth control.

Also I suggest that you do not delay your pregnancy for long, as PCOS causes problems with ovulation and may cause difficulty in conceiving. So it is better to begin trying pregnancy early.

Hope I was able to help you. Thanks for using Health Care Magic.
I would be happy to answer any further queries.
Have a nice day.
