How To Treat Pelvic Hernia On Torso Leading To Swelling?

I have 2 pelvic hernias one on each side of my torso. I ve been to a Dr to get some advice on having them taken care of via surgery, but the Dr didn t seem to think it was necessary, because she said that I didn t seem to have any swelling at that spot. I have never seen any swelling, but then in the area it is, I suspect any or all swelling would likely be inside & not showing. Am I right about a pelvic hernia? Thanks, Joyce

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Swelling may be part of developing hernia if not seen outside the body surface. In my clinic, after clinical examination, I do recommend an Ultrasound examination of the pelvis with soft tissue evaluation to find out any defect of internal structures supporting pelvic organs.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
