How To Treat Perforation In Right Ear?

I have a small hole / perforation in my right ear. Doctors advised that surgery is not necessary. Please suggest me some medicines to improve my hearing ability. My left ear is O.K.

Otolaryngologist/ENT Doctor 's  Response
Hi,

Most small ear drum perforations heal spontaneously within 2-3 weeks of its occurrence and subsequently the hearing improves. Medicines may not help much to improve the hearing in such situation.

The most important things to remember are -
1. Keep your ear dry (make sure water does not enter your ears, avoid swimming till the perforation is healed completely)
2. Make sure not to catch a cold during the healing period (catching a cold increases the chances of ear infection which could possibly delay the healing process)
Please follow-up with your ENT doctor and follow his/her advise to make sure that the perforation is healing well.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr. Prasad
