How To Treat Pitting Edema On Right Shin Causing Severe Pain?
What would cause putting edema to the right shin- an area of about 3 x 7 ? There is not any evidence of injury- no cuts, bumps, or bruises. Not red, not warm, no discoloration. There is a significant amount of pain involved. Hurts to stand, move, touch, and even at rest. Little relief with Aleve. Any ideas?

The symptoms would either be caused by infection or trauma to the area.
The use of anti inflammatory pain killers may help eg meds such as ibuprofen, cataflam, naproxen.
If there is no improvement then infection may be present and antibiotics may be needed.
These would be oral and would be prescribed by your doctor.
