Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...I think I have scrotal eczema, skin is very dry and itchy and there are scales at times, have tried emolliants, steroid based creams too. Skin is leathery with pits and looks dark. I follow all the precautions like cotton clothes and loose fitting clothes, but nit helping, very uncomfortable most of the time! Any advice?

Hello,

You are suffering from dry, itchy skin in your private area, skin is leathery and scales also form from time to time. Do not touch or scratch the affected area (scrotal sac and testicles), scratching of the itchy skin can open up sores, which are at risk of infection. It appears you are suffering from eczema. To reduce discomfort remove the sources of the irritation. If sexually active, you should avoid the use of condoms and spermicides as they may irritate the skin, wear cloths that allows good air circulation around the testicles. Avoid substances or chemicals that cause allergic reaction. Take right balance of minerals and vitamins in your diet.

Take care of your hygiene, keep groin clean. Reduce stress (emotional / psychological), avoid continuous exposure to heat and humidity. Take diet rich in zinc and riboflavin. Eczema may take a long time to reduce be patient. Applying steroid creams and herbal moisturizers on the affected area are helpful, taking antihistamines will give relieve. You can get clinically examined by a dermatologist, you may be recommended ultraviolet (UV) ray therapy. It is effective in treating moderate to severe cases of eczema.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
