How To Treat Psoriasis Inspite Of Using Allegra?

What antihistamine is the best for the itching of psoriasis. Am taking allegra once a day now and it only helps some for 12 hours and then the itch unbelievable until I take another dose. I am on a steroid cream which seemed to help when I was given prednisone and a d3 cream. They both helped my hands but the d3 cream is $95 a tube and if I used it everywhere I have psoriasis would last a week or less. I am 77 and on a fixed income, so cannot afford that.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The psoriasis issue is an auto immune response and the symptomatic control requires:
- Antihistamine as diphenhydramine will be equally efficacious and cheaper option for a long term drug consumption
- Systemic steroids to halt inflammatory response of the body as tablet betamethasone or prednisolone
- Certain monoclonal antibodies to halt the disease progress in certain selected cases
- Local creams with vitamin A or retinoin content has been proven beneficial results
- Control of blood sugar to prevent secondary bacterial infection

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
