How To Treat Rashes On Arms And Leg Post Exposure To Mango Sap?
Hi, i have a question about Mango Sap, my son came into contact with mango sap when his father was picking mango and the sap got on him when he placed the mango on my sons stroller it left my son with a rash on his arm and a little on his leg how can I treat this?
Hi & Welcome to HCM. I appreciate your concern for your son.
After having gone through the history given in your query, it is apparent that your son has an allergic rash due to mango sap which is caustic in nature that contacts the skin while picking and/or handling the fruit.
Following measures are found to be useful:
1. Wash affected area with water if recent exposure to sap 2. Check for other areas possibly affected 3. Steroid (Hydrocortisone 1% cream) to be applied to the affected areas twice daily for 5 days 3. Calamine lotion also helps in reducing the irritation or burning sensation
If the rash persists despite using above measures, a child specialist should be consulted for further evaluation and treatment. Hope to have answered your query.
