Hi, I am a 32 year old male and I had Pericarditis 10 years ago. This morning I woke up with similar symptoms, but definitely not as bad as when I was diagnosed 10 years ago.
This morning I woke up and felt a constant pain in my chest like someone was squeezing me. I took two doses of baby Aspirin today and it's helped some of the pain, but when I lay down my chest just throbs for about 5 minutes and my throat feels a little tight and sore. As long as I am sitting up, I hardly even notice the pain, but when I lay down it hurts on a 1-10 scale close to an 8.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Your symptoms might be due to recurrence of pericarditis. So better to first rule out this. So get done ecg, 2d echo and blood cardiac markers like CPK MB and Troponin T /I. If all these are normal then no need to worry for pericarditis. Sometimes, musculoskeletal pain can be the cause. So take painkiller like ibuprofen. Apply warm water pad on affected areas. Avoid movements causing pain. Avoid bad postures in sleep. Don't worry, you will be alright. But first rule out pericarditis. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
