I have a ruptured ear drum and i am in agony...the pain doesnt appear to be subsiding. I am on antibiotics, just finished my second day of taking them and i am also taking paracetamol. I believe it may be due to an infection or a Q Tip. I just want the pain to settle down and how can i tell if its not healing? I am so worried my hearing won't go back to normal...feeling really low and like there no end to this right now. Will it affect everything i now do in the future such as flying etc? :(
I have gone through your query and can understand..
As per your complain if you have got a ruptured ear drum then there are 2 ways by which you can get it repaired:
1. If perforation is small it generally gets healed with anti-inflammatory medicines, steroids and also antibiotics and decongestants.
2. In case if perforation is larger it needs to be repaired surgically..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can do an Otoscopic examination and rule out the exact condition of the ear drum and treat you accordingly.. As ear drum is responsible for proper hearing you should not delay as defect in it can lead to permanent hearing loss..
Hope this information helps..
