How To Treat Scar And Raised Skin On Lips Due To A Surgery?
I was just in an accident on my bike where I hit the handle bars. I broke my nose and have had surgery for that but my concern is the skin between my lip and my nose. My teeth went through the skin leaving a hole. It took 16 stitches to close both inside and outside of my mouth. Now my lip on that side is raised up some. Will this get better over time? Is there anything I can put on it to reduce scarring? It s only been three weeks.
I understand your concern for scar and raised skin on lips due to a surgery. It appears from your query that you have got quite severe type of injury and then resultant scar formation.
In your kind of cases I use “silicone gel sheet” over the scar area. It induces built up of moisture and hydration in the scar and therefore helps to heal better. You can apply it overnight so that it should be able to provide its adequate effect. It is totally safe and do not pose any problem in application. It is self adhesive sheet and sticks to the skin when applied. You can apply it for 2 months and see the results.
Alternatively I suggest to use a cream containing hexilak and extractum cepae with heparin to be applied in day time. Use a broad spectrum sunscreen regularly to reduce the further tendency.
All the best.
