How To Treat Seborrheic Dermatitis Mediated Severe Itching?

OK. I have a severe case of seborrheic dermatitis. I itch severely all over without medication. I cannot function at all. You cannot see anything on my skin, but I have been diagnosed by a dermatologist. I discovered that if I take 1800mg Gabapentin (Neurontin) daily the itch goes away. But the Gabapentin has some nasty side effects. I have tried all the antihistamines I can get and nothing helps except high doses of Benedryl which also has some severe side effects. They tried ketoconazole cream and it did nothing. The skin creams they recommended were useless also. Do you know of anything that would stop this horrible itching?

Hi,

Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic and relapsing skin disease may be triggered by mental upsets. I advise you to be relaxed mentally. You continue ketoconazole shampoo to cleanse the scalp and mild steroid cream on skin like mometasone cream twice a day. and take antihistaminic like hydroxyzine HCL 25 tab twice a day for long time. You may take oral steroid in tapering dose for short period . Take folic acid tablet 5 mg thrice a day for long time. Avoid sun exposure, which may trigger the disease. For mental calmness, take fluoxetin 10 mg tab daily.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
