My friend has sever chest pain, it causes his neck to hurt, as well as hurting when he moves and especially when he breaths. At times it feels as though it is throbbing. He has gone to see a doctor, but he was told that he was in perfect health, and should try out for sports, giving him a vicadin for it. The pain seems to be getting worse tho as time goes by. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query.Your problem is most likely costochondritis. Pain while palpation on rib area is characteristic. But it is better to do an ECG and chest x ray if needed to rule out any problems with heart and lungs to be on safe side. For costochondritis in my patients i treat with anti inflammatory gels of diclofenac or nimusulide for local application.I also give oral tablets of same if pain is more.If no improvement with this then i recommend local injection of corticosteroids or anesthetics.Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query.
