How To Treat Severe Tooth Infection Inspite Of Taking Acetaminophen And Clindamycin?

I have a severe tooth infection and am scheduled to get it pulled tuesday. I was given hydrocodone with acetaminophen and clindamycin today. I was in such severe, throbbing pain that I was in tears. When I take the medicine, it barely relieves the pain and only does do for about an hour. Will itget better tomorrow? Is this normal? I desperately need relief. My face is also swollen near the tooth. Help! ?! Thank you

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain Clindamycin which is an antibiotic and is efficient to reduce dental infection and hydrocodone and acetaminophen given to reduce pain are sufficient as well as efficient to reduce pain..

In case if it not relieving you and you have swelling on face it means that there is pus formation below the root apex of infected tooth and pus is putting pressure over the nerve fibers leading to pain which is not being relieved on taking painkillers also..

The pain can reduce after you continue to take antibiotics for two to three days when the infection and pus will reduce but in order to get relieved immediately you should get the pus drained by getting an access opening on the tooth done in which a cavity is prepared on the tooth deep to the central portion of tooth where there are nerves and blood vessels present so that a way for pus drainage is made and swelling and pain gets relieved..

Once the condition improves you can get extraction done..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
