How To Treat Sharp Pain And Heavy Bruise At Back Of Calf Muscle?

Hi, about 2 hours ago a very heavy wooden pallet fell on the back of my calf. I experienced extreme sharp pain, and heavy bruising. My leg can t support my weight; I m icing and elevating it. I m limping around when I do have to walk, and I occasionally have muscle spasms (almost feels like a charlie horse) that is extremely painful. I took ibuprofen. I don t have insurance, and want to know if there s anything else I can do for it right now, barring an expensive doctor s visit?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sharp pain and heavy bruise at back of calf muscle. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like soft tissue injury like tendon or ligament or muscle tear , hematoma formation or fracture . I would suggest you to continue taking ibuprofen and apply ice and do not move it . Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order x-ray , CT scan and physical examination . Doctor may give plaster , crape bandage and prescribe muscle relaxant , vitamin supplement along with physical therapy .
