How To Treat Sore And Swollen Throat?

My daughter throat looks swollen on the left side. It hurts when she swallows food or liquid. Started out as a sore throat. Hurts to the touch when I feel her neck, hard for her to ope her mouth wide to get a look inside and talking is a little stressful for her. What should I do? Should I wait and see if it goes away on its own or head for the ER now.

Hello
Since this swelling is on the one side , so most probably may swollen tonsil or adenoids .
In such cases hot saline gargles provide instant relief.
Ginger ( chewable ) also act as good medicine.
Dextromethophan chew tablet one such other medicine.
In such case I usually prescribe LEVOFLOXACIN 10 mg / kg body weight , orally.
But this is is prescription drug , so please consult a physician .
If there is difficulty in breathing then at once consult E R .
Good luck.
