How To Treat Sore Skin Underneath Tongue?

Hi,

I have skin on the underneath of my tongue which has been sore and feeling tight for a few days. It has now started to split and come away. It has not yet come off but is hanging off. I have this either side of my tongue on the underneath. It is becoming sore and worrying me.

Thanks

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your explanation of symptoms the hanging piece of skin is not any abnormal structure but it is PLICA FIMBRIATA which is fold of mucosa and present on either side under the the tongue and it can sore due to minor infection, physical trauma by some hard food or eating something hot..

You need not to worry as it is nothing serious and can get resolved easily..

Do warm saline gargles and take Ibuprofen in case if there is pain as well as Ibuprofen will reduce inflammation..

Nothing else is needed and gradually it will get resolved..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
