How To Treat Soreness Of Tooth Post Root Canal Surgery?

I have soreness/sensitivity on and around my tooth where the temporary crown was placed. It has only been 3 days since it was placed, but it has persisted. The dentist said that the decay was far up and almost needed to be a root canal. Is this normal?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain in case if your tooth had a deep decay and needed a root canal treatment then getting a crown over it is not a good idea as the decay will keep progressing and cause the tooth to become painful..
Secondly soreness and sensitivity on and around the tooth that has the temporary crown is indicating that the tooth has already become symptomatic and can become painful in future due to nerve exposure and inflammation..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and get an x ray done for confirmation..
If the decay is approximating the nerves, the best way to treat and save the tooth is by getting Root canal treatment done followed by placement of permanent crown after 15 to 20 days..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
