Hello, my mother has what looks like a spider bite on her cheek. its not round but more oblong from a round base, it started yesterday morning she noticed her face seemed sore almost like a object was pressed against her face. it looked on the first day like a red raised bump with a white spot in the middle, it was painless and only was sore if pressed upon. we thought it might be a brown recluse bite, after researching there are none in Cali so its likely not that. we also thought it might be skin anthrax because she works with mail, now is the second day. She has now a red outline and more clear hard blisters on top of where the white spot once was, she now describes it as hot or a warm sensation. Please help.
hi, thank you for putting up your query on HCM. as per your history, you may have an insect bite or allergic reaction. -- anthrax would be more of hemorrhagic and ulcerative lesion, so anthrax is unlikely. my treatment advise would be: 1. do not squeeze or pop tha lesion. 2. warm compression. 3. I would treat such case with a course of antibiotics preferably of cephalosporin group for 5-7 days. 4. you may take tab ibuprofen for pain and tab levocetrizine twice a day for itching. 5. you may apply a combination of mild steroid and antibiotic like Momate F cream over the lesion for 5-7 days. 6. if persistent, consult a dermatologist nearby. wishing you good health. thank you
