How To Treat Stomach Cramping, Chills And Constipation?

I believe I came down with food poisoning on Tuesday evening. My daughter and I shared a cupcake and both began getting stomach cramps, chills, etc. I never got diarrhea and have not had a bowel movement since Wednesday. I have felt some better today but still not back to normal. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for asking at HCM.
You are right, may be this is a food poisoning or viral infection. To help with constipation make sure you get fibre in diet and add some more by taking psyllium, senna might be helpful if fiber is not helping enough. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids. For the pain paracetamol and Ibuprofen after food might be helpful if the pain is in the lower abdomen or around the umbilicus or take some antiacids if the pain is on the stomach area. Some local warm compresses might help relieve the pain also. Rest as needed and if no better in a few days or earlier if any worse, you will need to see a doctor to have the appropriate treatment.
Hope this is helpful and answers to your question.
