How To Treat Swelling And Eye Discolouration After A Facial Injury?

My mom is visiting from our of state and fell on her face and ended up with a humongous black eye, unable to open it for days it was so swollen. Went to ER and had xrays...no structural damage. She still has a fluid filled ball on top of her brow. It's been 10 days. What can she do for this ball that won't shrink? She doesn't have dr here.

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain a fluid filled ball over the top of eyebrow seems to be due to infection in that area post injury leading to formation of an abscess..
The black eye is due to rupture of blood vessels post injury leading to accumulation of blood around the eye leading to bruised eye and is known as "Black Eye"
I would suggest that she should apply a triple antibiotic ointment along with a steroid ointment over the lump..
She can also take a short course of antibiotics like Augmentin..
Do cool compresses over the eye..'
Apply a numbing gel in case if there is pain..
In case if the condition worsen she will have to consult a Physician and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps.

Thanks and regards.
