How To Treat Swelling And Pain In Knee Inspite Of Taking Naproxen?
Twisted left knee about 12 months ago.doctor gave me steroids, and pain subsided for a few weeks.been taking naproxen 375mg for pain and inflammation.the last two weeks it seems like the pain is getting worse.have a goose egg protruding under the knee cap.had xray taking a few months back, and they said i had artritus.
You have a history of twisting your left knee 12 months ago and now are having lump under the knee. You are suggested to get clinically examined and get X-ray done to detect any fracture or ligament / tendon tear, RA or OA, gout, cysts, bursitis, abscess, lipoma, etc. You will be treated accordingly. To confirm RA you should get blood (CRP, anti-CCP, ESR, RF, etc) tests done. Arthritis can be treated with NSAIDs and cortico-steroid injections. Exercises under a physical therapist and warm / cold packs are effective to reduce swelling and pain.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
