How To Treat Swelling Of Cheek,ankles And Feet Caused Due To Bug Bite?

My daughter is having a pretty bad reaction to bug bites. Each are swelled more than usual, but this time she has swollen feet and ankles, a swollen cheek and under the eye, swollen knees a little, a slight fever, tired...... Should I give her Benadryl? Or, she had an allergy issue last May and was prescribed a RX for it and also was prescribed Methylpred 4mg in case it got worse....which it didn t.... so I still have it.

Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that she has got a severe allergic reaction and the insect/bug that has bitten her seems to be considerably poisonous and all the symptoms seems due to it..
You should consult an Allergist and get her evaluated and a proper evaluation is must before initiating the treatment..
For allergic reaction he/ she can advise you to give her antihistamines/ anti-allergics like diphenhydramine
(Benadryl) for reducing allergy symptoms.
For fever you can give her Tylenol..
Apply a Steroid ointment over bug bite areas..
Do cold compresses..
If still it does not resolve Steroid like Methylprednisolone can be advised as well as injectable anti-allergics and steroids can also be given..
