How To Treat Swelling On The Forehead And Around Left Eye Caused Due To Sunburn?
Last week I got a suburn on my forehead, it has started peeling but my forehead is really swollen. The swelling has spread down around my left eye, which is weird because my eyelids did not burn since I had sunglasses on. I can tell that the swelling is from fluid because if I press hard enough I leave indentions. The swelling just keeps getting worse and spreading. What should I do?
Hi. As per your case history of swelling due to sunburn, my treatment advice is - 1. Avoid sun exposure and use a good sunscreen lotion with spf more than 30. 2. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily. 3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain and swelling for 5-7 days and levocetrizine for itching. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, antioxidants taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
