How To Treat Swollen Insect Bite?

Hi Dr. Grief, I was bit on Saturday evening. I was outside playing volleyball, I assume by a mosquito, nat, or flea. One of the bites were in a group of three, but they all became swollen, incredibly itchy, scabbed over and painful/raised, now they are a bright purple. I don't usually have this bad of a reaction to mosquito so I'm just trying to figure out if I should be concerned

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that due to multiple insect bites that too which are close together has led to severe allergic reaction along inflammation leading to Cellulitis..

Purple discolouration of the area is due to bruising as there might be rupture/perforation of any small blood vessel leading to blood accumulation in soft tissues and giving it a purple appearance..

Nothing to worry as it will resolve gradually in a week..
You should take anti allergics like Levocetrizine to stop itching..
Apply a combination of a steroid and antibiotic ointment over it..
Do cool compresses over it..
In case if it does not improve consult an Allergist and get evaluated..
