How To Treat The Ear Infection?

My 4 year old son was diagnosed yesterday with early stages of an ear infection. he started a prescription of cefdinir 250 mg/5ml suspension 60ml. He s had one dose so far, then my dad decided to take him swimming today.He sin pretty bad pain, but in the opposite ear from the one that was diagnosed infection. What can I do to relieve his pain?

Hi,

Pain in the other ear is suggestive of infection in the other ear as well. This is commonly seen in kids with ear infection in one ear. You should continue the antibiotic that you have started till you complete the full course as recommended by your doctor. Additionally anti-inflammatory medicines (pain killers) could help in relieving the pain. Please do not take your son for swimming for atleast a week. Follow-up with your doctor if the symptoms persist.
