How To Treat The Recurring Step Throat And The Related Acid Reflux?

Hi, I have acid reflux and my throat has been giving me trouble for months. I ve been to an ear nose and throat doctor and I had strep throat. Took 21 days of amoxicillin and a stronger pill for acid reflux. I felt better and my throat felt better and he cleared me. That was last week Monday. My throat soreness came back with a vengeance mostly today. I feel like my throats tightened up, my head is hot even though my thermometer shows no fever. I feel weird overall and almost passed out at Wal-mart today. I have a small discomfort in my left side stomach area for two days now. I afraid I m really sick. I have been under more stress lately with my daughter getting married in two weeks. I feel like I ve been really sick. I ve been drinking too much alcohol lately with all the bachelorette festivities and stress. I know, bad for me. Imm46 years old and feel I might have some kind of cancer. I used to smoke.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have recurrent strep throat along with acid reflux is mainly due to gastrointestinal tract infection. Need not to worry. You have symptoms of acid reflux in which which acid from stomach enters into food pipe and throat leading to irritation and inflammation which causes heart burn as well as tickling and irritation in throat. You should take combination of proton pump inhibitors such as Omeprazole or Pantoprazole along with antacids. You should avoid large meals rather than this take frequent small meals. Drink plenty of water. You should avoid intake of alcohol. Avoid spicy, acidic, hot food substances. Visit gastroenterologist once and get it examined and start treatment accordingly. Need not to worry , your symptoms are that of cancer. You should go for exercise daily.
