I feel thick mucus in my throat and need to constantly swallow or clear my throat. Sometimes I cough out spaghetti like mucus the size of one inch or smaller. When I have these, I cough until they come out and is bothersome. Right side of my nose is blocked and I lost sense of smell. What do you suggest please?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of thick throat mucus which is due to streptococcal infection which is leading to strep throat. Tonsillitis could be one of the cause. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get blood tests done and go for sputum test as well. You should do is to do warm saline gargles at-least 2 to 3 times in a day. Maintain oral hygiene by brushing and flossing. Do rinses with antimicrobial mouthwash as well. For reduction of pain and inflammation you should take ibuprofen or calpol. You should take antibiotic amoxicillin for at-least 5 days. Avoid fried , sharp and spicy food. You can take soothing lozenges to reduce pain and discomfort. Avoid drinking cold carbonated beverages.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
